Karen (Fischer) Fagan
May 21, 1936 - September 17, 2019

Karen (Fischer) Fagan, age 83, of Riverside, California formerly of Tuscumbia, MO, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at her home. She was born in Miller County, MO on May 21, 1936, daughter of the late Ercil "Bryce" and Eula (Bilyeu) Fischer.

After graduating from Tuscumbia High School in 1953, Karen attended college studying family and consumer science. She continued to pursue her education to the highest degree, achieving her Ph. D.

Karen was united in marriage to Earl Fagan who was originally from Doniphan, MO. Earl was a successful businessman and his career took him to the state of California, where he and Karen lived for more than thirty years. With her tremendous passion for and expertise in education, Karen became a consultant for California public school districts. She launched her own consulting firm, Karen Fischer Fagan and Associates, in the mid-1990’s. Karen dedicated her life to helping public schools improve their curriculum so all students in the state could benefit.

Karen and Earl were members of the Magnolia Center Church of Christ in Riverdale, CA. They were strong supporters of the church’s Prayer Ministry and its Outreach to the Homeless.

She is survived by one brother, Roger Fischer of Tuscumbia; three nephews, Neil Fischer (Kathy) of Olean, Steven Fischer of Lee’s Summit, and John Fischer of Bellevue, Washington; one niece, Jamie (Fischer) Patterson (Mike) of Tuscumbia; along with six great-nephews; two great-nieces; one great-great-nephew; and one great-great-niece.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Earl Ray Fagan on November 14, 2013.

Karen will be greatly missed and fondly remembered with love and respect by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, October 1, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia, MO with Bro. David Visser officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Tuscumbia.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Iberia Church of Christ or Magnolia Center Church of Christ in Riverside, CA.
