Columbia - Memorial service for Adelard Exdras "Shorty" Belliveau, 77, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. The family will be at 217 Gales River Road (New Friarsgate), Irmo. Mr. Belliveau died Saturday, December 30, 2000, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center after a long and hard fought illness. Born in North Smithfield, R.I., he was a son of the late Antoine and Amelia Rock Belliveau. He was a retired auto mechanic and World War II veteran. "Shorty", as he was known to family, friends, co-workers and everyone who knew him, will be sorely missed by one and all. He met no strangers, had no enemies and was loved by all. He had a love for his wife and partner of fifty-four and a half years that cannot be measured. His love for his daughters only grew stronger and was endless. His sons-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family never had to question or doubt his abundance of love and pride he felt for them all. He may be gone but his family is a tribute to what he believed in and stood for. He is now resting in the loving arms of Jesus Christ, his Savior, and is at rest and whole once again. Surviving are his wife, Betty Eargle Belliveau; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Darnell Gary of Sandy Run, Donna May of West Columbia and Thomas E. May Sr. of Gaston and Janet and Dale Dasher of Swansea; grandchildren, Brian Gary, Thomas E. May Jr., Michael and Lisa May, Betty and Tony Pound, Alisha and Darrell Knight, Janis Gable and Brad Jinkins; great-grandchildren, Tedi Poskitt, Trey and Brandi May, Kile and Tyler May, Jordan and Hannah Knight, Nathan and Makenna Jinkins; brother, Henry Belliveau; sisters, Rita Perron, Theresa Frazier, Millie Gonzalez; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. © The State, Columbia, SC, 1 Jan 2001
