John Fuller, the second child to be named John, son of Robert "the butcher" Fuller and wife Sarah Dunkhorn, baptized at Redenhall on 25 March 1582. He died testate at Redenhall and was buried on 22 December 1608.
John married 1) prior to 1599 and under 17 years of age, an unknown wife. Then 2) on 19 April 1599 at barely 17 years of age in adjoining Starston, "John Fuller of Redenhall widower and Margaret Balls, servant of Mr. Cotton" married. By this marriage were baptized at least the following four children at Redenhall:
1. Constance, bp. 1 May 1600,
2. John, bp. 25 April 1602,
3. Matthew, bp. 16 October 1603, and
4. Thomas, bp. 1 March 1606/07.
A fifth child named William was bp. on 30 June 1609 more than six months after John Fuller's death and there is some confusion regarding whether William was a son by his first unnamed wife and not baptized prior to his father's death, or the posthumous son by 2nd wife Margaret. One of John Fuller's sons name William was living when he wrote his will dated 16 December 1608 and proved 2 January 1608/09 providing for "William my eldest son" :
• To Margaret, my wife, an inclose called Hollane's in Redenhall (copy-hold of the Manor of Redenhall Hall), for life then to my son John Fuller.
• All other copy-hold lands to said wife to help in bringing up children I now have or may have by her, until my son Thomas is 21 and then sold, except the inclose of Hollanes, by my wife and the money divided among my children, William Fuller, my eldest, to have the offer of them.
• Mr. Thomas Cotton, of London, to be supervisor.
• Witnesses: Thomas Fuller, Thos: Evererd, William Read.
[Episcopal Consistory Court of Norwich, Register, Spencer, fol. 222]
At least son John was living in May 1614 when included in the will of his paternal grandfather, Robert "the butcher" Fuller, but grandfather Robert made no provision for any other of his deceased son John's children or for his widowed daughter-in-law Margaret (Balls) Fuller.
The claim in 1902 by Francis H. Fuller that the widow Margaret (Balls) Fuller was the Margaret Fuller, widow, who died testate and was buried at Redenhall on 27 March 1628 is FALSE. Her will and parish records of adjoining Starston, Redenhall and Alburgh identity the latter Margaret as Margaret nee Mansell who m. 1) Nicholas Thurston at Starston in 1684 and 2) in 1604 at Redenhall as his second wife, Edmond Fuller, who she outlived.
What happened to Margaret (Balls) Fuller and her children is under ongoing research.
