Rev. Irvin Poole, 77 of Ludowici died Thursday, September 19, 2019. The Montgomery County native and lifelong resident of Ludowici was pastor for Ludowici Church of God for 24 years and many more churches including Uvalda, Manningtown and Westside Churches of God. His favorite pastimes were spent hunting and building. He was predeceased by his parents, Rev. O.L. and Ruby Banks Poole; sisters, Mamie Middleton, Melba King and a brother, Lamar Poole.
Survivors are his wife of 56 years, Lorraine Smith Poole of Ludowici; daughters, Alishia Poole and Janna (Robert) Swartz, both of Ludowici; sons, Leonard (Shelley) Poole, Lamar (Leeann) Poole, both of Ludowici, Jessie (Brenda) Poole of Cedar Crossing and Greg Poole of Jesup; sisters, Irene (Terry) Kirksey of Bloomingdale and Sue (Wayne) Owens of Hinesville; brother, Max Poole of Atlanta; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Ludowici Church of God Compass Worship Center, 212 E. Cypress Street, Ludowici, Ga. 31316 with Pastor Byron Powers, Rev. Joe Manning and Rev. Tommy Gill officiating. Interment will follow in the Baggs Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Steven Moore, Charlie Hinson IV, Gary Deloach, Jr., Ronald Cercy, Clifton Walker, Jr., Fate Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be all pastors and the staff of Heartland Hospice.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 PM Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Ludowici Church of God Compass Worship Center.
