SARAH ARTERBURN was born during the period, 1783-1785, confirmed by Shenandoah County, Virginia Censuses of 1775, 1783, and 1785. According to her marriage bond, SARAH/Sally married ENOS McKIE, March 27, 1802, in Jefferson County, Kentucky. A recorded consent has not been found; Shenandoah County Censuses of 1783 and 1785 suggest that she was born about 1783 or after. They had two children, LYDIA and ENNIS McKIE, according to the authors of The Arterburn Cousins (p. 340).

SARAH was apparently deceased by Sept 19, 1815, when her father's Will was drafted. Her daughter, "Lidia McKie," was named an heir of WILLIAM SR.'s estate to receive $30 when "she shall marry or be of lawful age." ENOS McKIE was a witness (1815) of the Last Will & Testament of WILLIAM ARTERBURN SR., and also proved the Will of his deceased father-in-law for probate in Jefferson County Court, in 1816/17, but neither he nor son ENNIS MCKIE were named in the Will.

The dates of death of SARAH and ENOS McKIE and their unmarked gravesites have not been discovered. SARAH might have been buried in Arterburn Cemetery if the Arterburns were already tenants in the William Christian log house when she died.

............

SARAH's mother, NANCY ARTERBURN, was the only female in WILLIAM SR.'s household in Dunmore (Shenandoah) County, Virginia, in Netherton's Census of 1775. By 1783, one (unidentified) daughter had been born after son PRESLEY (1778), as confirmed in Hite's Census of 1783.—almost certainly ELIZABETH, based on Federal Censuses and her marriage records. By 1785, the two other daughters of WILLIAM and NANCY had been born—SARAH and LYDIA. All (8) of the children of WILLIAM and NANCY were counted in Netherton's (second) Census of 1785.
