LENOIR -- Jerome Frederick Beard, 89, of Lenoir, NC, died November 7th, 2006.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2006 at First United Methodist Church of Lenoir. The family will receive friends following the service.
He was born December 19, 1916 in Caldwell County to the late Rufus A. Beard and Claudia Swanson Beard.
Mr. Beard was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lenoir and had served on the Administrative Board; Council on Ministries; Young at Heart; and a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
He was a co-founder of Rockhaven Gardens Florist, having been in that business for 45 years and was a member of the North Carolina State Florists Association, Southern Retail Florists Association, Lenoir Lions Club and Knights of Pythias. During World War II, he served in the Army for three and one half years.
He is survived by two sons, Jerome J. Beard and his wife, Donna of Raleigh, David Wayne Beard and his wife, Kathryn of Holly Springs; two granddaughters, Rachel and Rita Beard.
