Terence E. Adderley died at his home October 9, 2018. He was 85 years old, and was born Sept. 1, 1933 in Detroit, MI. Terry was the son of Margaret and William Russell Kelly.
Mr. Adderley enjoyed a distinguished career in many leadership roles at Kelly Services, a global provider of human resources services. He joined the company in 1958 as manager of their Louisville, KY office. He was elected Vice President of the company in 1961, and joined the Board of Directors in 1962. He was named President in 1967, Chief Executive Officer in 1987, Chairman of the Board in 1998, and Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board in 2012. Through his leadership, the company received numerous awards for its strong commitment to providing workforce opportunities for women, minorities, the disabled, veterans, and seniors.
Terry was also committed to many civic and charitable causes in the community. He served on the boards of the Auburn Automotive Heritage, Inc, Beaumont Health System, Business Leaders for Michigan, the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, Councours d'Elegance of America at St. John's, and Detroit Country Day School, among many others. He served previously on the Boards of Directors of DTE Energy Company, First Chicago NBD, and the Detroit Renaissance Foundation.
Mr. Adderley was a very loyal and supportive alum of the University of Michigan, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees.
Terry was the husband of Jennifer. Father of Carol Cone (Jon), Mary Adderley, Laura Adderley, Elizabeth Adderley, and the late Russell Adderley, Ted Adderley, and Ellen Oltmans. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
Funeral and burial services will be held privately.
A public Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 10th, 11:00 AM at Kirk in the Hills, 1340 W. Long Lake Rd, Bloomfield Hills.
