Mary Virginia (Ginny) Devins, of Roanoke, Va., was born on January 18, 1920, to Albert and Edna Arnold and passed away on Friday, November 21, 2008. She was born in Portsmouth, Va.

She graduated from Greensboro College majoring in music (organ).

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Vernon Devins.

She was also the last and youngest sibling to brothers, Wayne, Sherwood and Chester Arnold. Ginny's love of music led her to become a member of "Sweet Adelines," "Showtimers," and the Salem Presbyterian Church Choir. She also actively supported Wheelchair Basketball, Roanoke Valley Aquatic Association, the American Heart Association, Crystal Cathedral, Greensboro College Alumni, Meals on Wheels, and St. Labre Indian School.

She is survived by her sons, Jeff and wife, Linda, and Randy and wife, Gretchen; grandchildren, Blake, Erika, Alicia, Ryan, and Scott; and a great-granddaughter, Brianna.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2008, in Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev. David Gellert will officiate. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Ave. from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mary's name may be made to the Roanoke Valley Aquatic Association's George Devins Scholarship Fund. (SEE swimrvaa.com) Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel.
