William married Catherine Eshelman, also of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. They moved from Pennsylvania to Ohio in 1838, renting a log cabin in Miami County and living there for just one summer. In the fall they moved to Greene County where they purchased a farm. They lived there only a few months before returning to Miami County where they bought a farm of 234 acres. They died within a month of each other and are buried in adjoining graves.
