Jess Clarence "J.C." Autry, 90 passed away Sept. 11, 2019 after a brief illness. He was born in Foard City, Texas on Sept. 23, 1928 to Jess Clarence and Ella Bryant Autry. He was a graduate of Crowell High School and a longtime member of the Men's Downtown Bible Class. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Crowell Cemetery Association. He was the Foard County Soil & Water Conservation District Farmer of the Year in 1996 and the 2012 Volunteer of the Year for the Crowell Chamber of Commerce. He married Dorothy Thompson Oct. 29, 1949 in Crowell. J.C. was a special person and spread happiness everywhere he went. He was an outstanding farmer and a great community man. He was loved by all who knew him. He is survived by a daughter Susan (Joe) Haynie of Crowell; 2 grandchildren Justin (Amber) Haynie of Crowell and Crystal (Josh) Briggs of Archer City and 6 great grandchildren Christopher, Kade, Kennedy, Tyler, Dylan and Lane and one sister Estelle Myers. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy in 2014, a son Trey in 1992, twin granddaughters Jessica and Jody Haynie in 1983, his parents and a sister Rozella Langham .
