ENOSBURG -- Dazel T. Thompson, 102, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with her family at her side. She was born July 16, 1900, in Montgomery, the daughter of the late Edmund and Lillian (Murray) Shangraw.

Dazel made her home at Our Lady of the Meadows Community Care Home in Richford for the past six years where she maintained a very active lifestyle -- always willing to participate in the resident activities, especially a good card game.

In her earlier years, she made her home in Richford where she was a 1920 graduate of Richford High School, a member of the Richford United Methodist Church and Choir, Order of the Eastern Star, Richford Country Club, Bridge Club and Bowling League. She moved to Enosburg Falls in 1973 and attended the Enosburg Falls Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. She was a member of the Ladies Village Improvement Society, Enosburgh Historical Society, Green Mountain Folklore Society and the Enosburg Falls Senior Citizens Young at Heart Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Faustine Garrow of Winter Haven, Fla. and Lake Carmi; three grandchildren, Richard Thompson and his wife Susan of Jay, Susan Martel and her husband Christopher of Richford, and Stephanie Garrow and her partner Eleni Randos of Underhill; five great-grandchildren, Ricky Thompson, Bridget Thompson, Jessica Shepard, Joseph Shepard and Nicholas Garrow Randos. She was predeceased by her husband, Ethan Thompson; her son, E. Rockwood Thompson; her sister, Dorothy Jacobs; her three brothers, Percey, Mortimer and Clyde Shangraw.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home.
