Survivors include one daughter, Angela I. Chapman (Matt) of Warrensburg; two sons, George D. Roby Jr. of Sweet Springs and Robert W. Roby of Sedalia; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Dee Rhoads (Arvid) of Branson; one brother, William Russell "Bud" Hawes (Patricia Susan) of Jamesport, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Albert LeRoy Roby and Mary Margaret Mitchell Roby Barnett; and wife, Letha French Robinson, he was preceded in death by one son, Matthew "Jed" Roby; one daughter, Mary Ann Finch; and one brother, James Michael Moran Sr.

Born February 21, 1950, in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of the late Albert LeRoy Roby and Mary Margaret Mitchell Roby Barnett. He graduated from high school in Englewood, CO and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. On October 31, 2008, he married Letha French Robinson who preceded him in death on February 27, 2019. He lived in Sweet Springs most of his life and worked at Rival Manufacturing, Eastman House, Ditzfield Tranfer and Peasterbilt.
