Shirley Ann Royer, 91, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Harrison’s Crossing. She was born on March 15, 1928, in Terre Haute to Louis E. and Mamie E. (Blotna) Hamelmann.

Shirley is survived by her son, Brian D. Royer of Quincy, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vern Dale Royer; a brother, Virgil C. Hamelmann; and a sister, Ruth Erler.

As a young woman, Shirley worked at Commercial Solvents where she met her husband. She was the main office secretary at Terre Haute South Vigo High School for ten years. She made many friends there and many former students, as adults, remained friends. Shirley retired from First Financial Bank as a secretary for the Human Resources Department. She was a member of the First Financial Golden Heirs retiree club and Gold Club. Shirley was a huge supporter of ISU men’s and women’s basketball. Many student athletes and their families remain close friends. Shirley was a long-time member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She volunteered for the Union Hospital Service League. Shirley was also a member of Kappa Delta Phi sorority.

Shirley will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park.
