Virgil Gustavus, 88, of Bryan, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019, in Bryan. A visitation will be from 10:30 am, until the time of service at 11:30, Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center. A reception will follow in the Pecan and Sage Visitation Suites of the funeral center. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.

Virgil was born to William and Willie Anna Batson Gustavus on January 10, 1931, in Leon Prairie, near Normangee. In 1954, at the age of 23, Virgil made his life commitment to Christ being baptized in First Baptist Church in Madisonville. He was a hard workingman immediately after attending Normangee High School he began is career as an auto mechanic. A few years into a being a mechanic he found interest in farm equipment. Later he recognized the joy of working in the oil fields while traveling around Texas. Virgil was truly at peace as a truck driver and rancher. He retired from TexCon. For all the miles Virgil traveled and spent many hours on the road, his old CB Radio Handle of "Tractor Man" will live on.

His parents, William and Willie Anna; his eleven siblings; Virgil's grandson, Brandon Gustavus; all precede him in death.

Virgil's wife of 66 years, Elise Imogene Gustavus; his son Galen and wife Lawanna Gustavus; his granddaughter, Amber Locke; his great-granddaughters, Emily Locke and Elliott Locke; his numerous nephews and nieces; his friends, and other relatives all survive Virgil.
