"Alan Dean Schnelle, 16, of Route 3, Lockwood, died at 8 a.m. Sunday in St. John's Hospital, Springfield after a five month illness. He was a junior at Lockwood High School and a member of the basketball team. He was active in Future Farmers of America as well as the Walther League of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Surviving are his father and stepmother, Harold L. and Jean Schnelle; one brother, Kent, of the home; three sisters, Elaine, Jane, and Joyce, all of the home; three stepbrothers, Greg, Mark and Keith Hall, all of the home; and his grandparents, Walter and Clara Schnelle, of Lockwood. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Marvin Lilie officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Meinert south of Lockwood under direction of Allison."
