Funeral services for Raymond Dean Adams will be held at the Welty Church of God. Interment will follow at the Welty Cemetery.
Raymond Dean Adams was born August 9, 1931 in Mason, Oklahoma to Lawrence Ray Adams and Beulah Mae (Wells) Adams. He passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019 in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 88.
Mr. Adams was a resident of Okfuskee County most all of his life and was a graduate of Mason High School. He and Frankie Beasley were married January 18, 1955 in Bristow, Oklahoma. Mr. Adams worked many years with Okfuskee County and later was Okfuskee County Commissioner for 5 years. He also became Okemah City Manager for 5 years. Mr. Adams loved fishing, leatherwork and gardening. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and was very proud of them. He was also a proud veteran having served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Wanda Adams, Murleen Stiles and Nancy Jo Haddox.
Survivors include his wife, Frankie Adams of the home; three sons, Randy Adams and wife Terry of Meeker, Oklahoma, Ricky Adams and wife Darla of Okarche, Oklahoma and Rusty Adams and wife Mary of Okemah; one brother, Cotton Adams and wife Helen of Okemah; four sisters, Ina Mae Teafatiller of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Wilma Farley and husband Floyd of Cushing, Oklahoma, Carolyn Cheatwood and husband Eugene of Okemah and Dorothy Ross of Okemah; five grandchildren, Jeff and Lisa Adams, Shelly and Jeremy King, Monty and Tiffany Dyer, Scott and Sherri Adams and Brandi Nicole Adams.
