Born near the small village of Urbana, Wabash Co. Indiana. After enlisting at Indianapolis, Indiana on Dec, 6, 1916, Lorin served in the U.S. Navy for ten years (from April 6, 1917 to December 23, 1927; he last served aboard the cruiser USS Denver). He finished his service with the rank of S3/QM. Lorin married Mary Evelyn Reilly on Feb. 22, 1922 in Cook Co. Illinois. They had no known children. Lorin jumped to his death from a seventh story window of the Hotel Elkhart. He was a traveling salesman for a steel company.
