Mortimer was the son of Frederick Frisbie and Polly (Ludington) Frisbie.

Mortimer married Amelia Wright (Gildersleeve) Frisbie (1823 - 5 Aug 1896) on 1 July 1844.

In the 1850 U.S. Census, Mortimer and Amelia were living in New Haven, Connecticut, and he was a shop keeper.

In the 1860 and 1880 U.S. Censuses, Mortimer and Amelia were living in Chicago, Illinois, and he was a merchant (1860) and a stockbroker (1880).

1) William Gildersleeve Frisbie (born c.1858) was born in Chicago, Illinois. He married Matilda Caroline (Reeves) Frisbie (born c.1858) on 5 June 1879 in Chicago, Illinois. She was born in Illinois to James and Caroline Reeves.

2) Evelyn Hortense Frisbie (born 25 Apr 1863) was born in Illinois.
