Son of William Ballard and Mary Byrum/Byrom, daughter of Henry Byrom and Frances Mills. Source: Family Search
Married 1) Martha Moorman, possibly John Ballard's mother. The birthdate of his eldest child, John, b. 1766, would tend to bear that out, if Moorman did not marry Minerva until 1769.
Married 2) Minerva/Manerva Webley Bullock in 1769.
According to one source, the Methodist circuit preacher and farmer, Rev. Washington C. Ballard, born in Richmond, Virginia, was the son of Moorman and Minerva Ballard.
There were also a great many Ballards in New England and the mid Atlantic States. According to one source, Moorman may also have married a Jane Custis.
