He died 28 December 1862 at Columbia, Adair County, Kentucky, and was buried there the next day in a mass grave with other soldiers. His widow remarried and had 11 more children.
Aaron's younger brother George also died in the Civil War, in early 1863, at Bowling Green, Kentucky.
