Leah had Niemann-Pick disease, a genetic illness that causes memory loss similar to Alzheimer's. Such is the cruelty of NPD, it does not stop there. It slowly takes away other bodily capabilities, so sufferers regress in their development.
It is so rare that just 500 people in the world are known to suffer from it. Those who have it rarely live past 20.
Her life was made into a documentary, shown on UK television in 2012, Leah's Dream. The title music chosen for the programme was by a very well known Swedish Pop quartet, titled 'I have a dream'. A very fitting musical tribute to a very brave, happy little girl.
Such was the bravery and unwavering support, love and comfort of her family and friends during her short life, it was truly awe inspiring. She was surrounded by parents who would not acknowledge that death would be the end for her- albeit it physically.
Her extraordinary cheerfulness and happy demeanor even up to the end highlighted so well on that documentary, was arguably the most moving things shown on British television in 2012.
Her short life, far from being a inevitable tragedy, was a shining success. An example of triumph over adversity. A truly remarkable little girl.
Fell asleep peacefully in Mum and Dad's arms at Brian House Children's Hospice on Tuesday April 10th 2012
aged 10 years.

Leah will be very sadly missed by all her family and very many friends.
Funeral service took place at St. Peter's Parish Church on Monday April 23rd at 10:00am prior to cremation at Carleton Crematorium at 11:30am
