Irene G. Norwood, 78, of Colonial Heights went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 18, 2017. Born January 10, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Minnie and Graham Green, and was also preceded in death by her daughters, Darlene Norwood, Arlene Turner and Yvonne Lyon; sisters, Ann Powell, Betty Woodlief; brothers, Graham Green and Wilford Green. Irene was a long time and devoted member of First Assembly of God in Petersburg, where she helped out in the nursery and worked in the Women's Ministry. Nanny, as everyone would call her, had many various jobs throughout life, but her core passion was taking care of children. Everything she did in life was to glorify her Lord. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Walter Perry Norwood; son, Perry Norwood (Kim); son-in-law, Daniel Turner (Robin); grandchildren, Jonathan Turner (Chelsea), Rebekah Jones (Jamison) and Matthew Norwood; sisters, Marie Turner, and Dorothy Norwood; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at First Assembly of God, 25213 Ferndale Rd, Petersburg, VA 23803, with the Reverend Dwayne Walker Reverend Jonathan Turner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. at church. Interment will be private
