Alice loved to travel, read, container garden, visit with friends and family, and was thoroughly entertained by the political drama on cable news channels. She had no children of her own, but she loved her many nieces and nephews as if they were her own and was profoundly proud of their achievements and adventures which were shared not only personally but through social media. Her close connection with her siblings and extended family enriched her life, especially in later years when she was limited in her ability to travel and socialize outside her home.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, John Emory and Laura Mae Laude; her sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Milt Johnson; and their son, Dan Johnson.
She is survived by the children of Marian and Milt Johnson, Wayne Johnson (Cheryl) and Carla Johnson of Sandpoint, and Eric Johnson of North Pole, Alaska; her sister and brother-in-law Emeryl and Stan Hoekema of Thompson Falls, Mont., and their children Cathy Schilling (Dave) and Leslie Brietenbach (Rick) of Thompson Falls, and Glenda Anderson (Leon) of Sandpoint; her brother and sister-in-law John R. and Norma Laude of Sandpoint, and their children Jack Laude (Shannon) and Terry Laude (Angie) of Ponderay, and Rob Laude (Corie) of Sandpoint; her sister Linda Gerken of Spokane Valley, Wash., and her children Gorden W. Gerken (Jena) of Pasco, Wash., Laurie Jones (Chris) of Newport, Wash., and Brian Gerken (Kally) of Mead, Wash.; their respective children and grandchildren, and aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to list.
Alice requested that no funeral or memorial service be held on her behalf.
