Rubye Jackson Norvell, 107, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019. Mrs. Norvell was the widow of Joseph Winston Norvell. She graduated from George Peabody College in Nashville, TN with a degree in Education and from Memphis State University with a degree in Library Science. She taught First Grade at Treadwell school in Memphis, TN for many years. Mrs. Norvell retired from the Memphis City School system in 1972 when she was Librarian at Cromwell School in Memphis. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS.

She was preceded in death by her son, Louis Dewitt Hamric, II. Survivors include one son, Gilbert Randolph Harding, five grandchildren, Gilbert Harding, Jr., Malinda Williamson, Jeffrey Harding, Louis Dewitt Hamric, III, and Charles Hamric, and four great-grandchildren, Justin, Keely, Cade, and Heath. The family will receive friends Friday, August 23, 2019 from 10am until the funeral service begins at 11am, all at Brantley Funeral Home of Olive Branch. Private interment will be held in Blocker Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church of Olive Branch.
