Funeral services for Royce W. Whiteley, 84, of Lufkin will be held August 21, 2019 in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mr. Whiteley was born to the late Callie (Eubank) and Andrew E. Whiteley.

Mr. Whiteley had a love for working with kids and for this reason he chose to go into Education. He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University, his master’s degree from the University of North Texas, and his doctorate degree from California Coastal University. He coached and taught at numerous schools in the East Texas area, retiring from Zavalla after 27 years of service. His favorite pastime was sports and he was a big Houston Rockets fan. Mr. Whiteley was always doing something; he was not one to just sit around. He was very active in the Gideon ministry and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lora Whiteley; sons, Chris Whiteley and wife Teresa, Kevin Whiteley, Robin Whiteley and wife Ana, Chad Whiteley and wife Maria; daughter, Lorrie McMillan and husband Tom; stepson, Ronnie Silvia; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Sanders; numerous nieces, nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons; and sister, Norma Jean Cure.
