Harriet M. Tabor, 83, of Augusta, formerly of Towanda, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at Harry Hynes Hospice in Wichita. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Augusta. Burial will follow the services in Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.

Harriet was born April 9, 1922, in Burrton, the daughter of Miles and Myrtle M. McMurry Austin. She attended schools in Towanda and graduated in the class of 1940. She was united in marriage to Walter "Lee" Tabor on Nov. 15, 1942. He preceded her in death on Aug. 7, 2000.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the church circle and was a life member of Good Sams Travel Club. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to knit and crochet and travel with her husband.

Survivors include: one son, Larry L. Tabor of Strafford, Mo.; two daughters, Mary Tabor of Wichita and Laura Albert of Towanda; two brothers, Junior Austin of Alamosa, Colo., and Roger Austin of Rosalia; sisters, Josephine Smith of Hillsboro and Betty Jo Worthington of Eagle River, Alaska; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church. Contributions may be left with Kirby-Morris Funeral Home who is assisting the family with the arrangements.
