Mr. John F Rich, Sr., age 92, of Pike County, formerly of Macon, passed away August 11, 2019. He was born in Emanuel County, one of 15 children. John served in the Army Air Corp post WWII. After enlisting in the military, he was sent to the Azores Islands where he resupplied aircraft. He then took part in the Berlin Airlift, carrying food and supplies to the city of Berlin. After being honorably discharged, he worked as a welder and plumber in Macon, where he owned his own business. He joined the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union #72, where he worked on nuclear power houses. John enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 40 years, Priscilla Bostwick Rich.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Mike and Tomi Rich of Pike County; granddaughters: Anna Rich and Kayli Rich, and eight additional grandchildren; sister: Sindy Warfel of PA; numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 11 a.m., at Riverside Cemetery, 1301 Riverside Drive, Macon. Visitation will be held graveside from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
