Death of Sam Bilyeu
Sam Bilyeu, Stone county bachelor farmer, died Sunday, June 4, at his home near Blue Eye, from a gun shot wound, received after a dispute with his landlord, Charles Bailey, over a crop on Bailey's farm. Bailey plead guilty to the shooting but claims it was done in self-defense. Bilyeu was 48, and Bailey is 60. Bailey's preliminary hearing was held Saturday. Bailey was arrested and taken to the county jail immediately after the shooting of Bilyeu. Bailey has a large family.

Death of Sam Bilyeu mentioned in the obituary of his brother Ira:
Ira Bilyeu, age about 41 years, died at his home in the Nauvoo, Missouri, community Sunday June 11, 1933, after a short illness. Mr. Bilyeu was born and reared in the Nauvoo community and liv ed there practically all his life with the exception of the time he served in the army. He was a first class private in the United States army during the world war, entering the service on September 20, 1917, and was a member of Battery A, 342nd F. A, 89th Division, and saw active service in the Envegine Sector in France from September, 1918, to November 11, 1918. He was en titled to two gold Chevrons for his army activities while in France. Mr. Bilyeu received his honorable discharge at Camp Funston Kansas, on June 10, 1919. Mr. Bilyeu never married and is survived by four brothers, Jake, Mart, and Sherwood Bilyeu, all of the Nauvoo community, and Bill Bilyeu, of Horam, Oklahoma. Sam Bilyeu of the same community, who was killed there on June 4 and was buried in the McCullough cemetery on June 5. was a brother to the deceased. Funeral services were held at the McCullough church Sunday afternoon, and interment was in the McCullough cemetery. The Atkinson Funeral Home of Berry ville was in charge.
