Thomas was the son of Hardy and Sarah (James) Robertson. He married first Jane Caroline Dobbins on 6 Jun 1859. They had twelve children: Thomas Jefferson, Bular M., Burren Wesley, Mary Roxsey, Walter Randolph, Sarah Elizabeth, Vetol Moses, Lieu Telar, Exar Lena, Anna Laura, Thomas Marion and Carolyn Ida.
On 19 Oct 861 he enlisted in Co F., 25th Regiment, Alabama Infantry. He was captured at Missionary Ridge on 25 Nov 1863. and held prisoner at Rock Island until 22 Oct 1865 upon taking Oath of Alligiance.
Thomas and Caroline raised their family in Yell County, Arkansas. Following Jane's death in 1890 he moved to Oklahoma. He married second Amelia Catherine Davis on 29 Mar 1894 in Muskogee County, Oklahoma. Both were residents of Muldrow, Sequoyah county.
