Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Matt Philaya will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Darlene (Schelinder) Haugen was born January 24, 1934 in Saginaw, MN the daughter of Edward and Frieda (Benson) Schelinder. She attended Albrecht High School and graduated in 1952. She was united in marriage to Orrin Haugen on December 29, 1969 in South Dakota. They moved from their farm in Hazel Run Township to a farm near Montevideo in 1982.
Darlene was a collector and collected carousel horses, nut crackers, and light houses. She also enjoyed puzzles, playing bingo and scrabble, painting, and betting on horse races.
Darlene is survived by her children: Victoria, Della, Michael and Nathan; four grandchildren: Justin, Amy, Kenneth and Amanda; seven great-grandchildren: Addyson, Madyson, Magdalyn, Macey, Keagan, Matthew and Henry; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Orrin in 2008; her parents; brothers: Delmar, Donald and Roger; and sisters: Rosalie Fish and Mary White.
