Alice C. Cerra, Carbondale, died Sunday morning at Marian Community Hospital unexpectedly after an illness. She was the widow of Leonard Cerra, who died in 1986.

A lifelong resident of Carbondale, she was born on Feb. 7, 1925 and was daughter of the late Thomas and Helen O'Brien Flanagan. She was educated in Carbondale schools and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Before retirement, she was a longtime manager of Old River Road Bakery, Carbondale, and was also employed by Sugerman's Department Store, Eynon.

She was a kind, giving and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who enjoyed family get-togethers, cooking, baking, reading and doing crossword puzzles. An avid New York Yankees fan, she participated in bowling leagues for many years. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are two daughters, Margaret Clark and Nancy Zenker, and a son, Thomas, all of Carbondale; a sister, Mary Kudrik, Carbondale; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Flanagan; two sisters, Margaret Flanagan and Helen Beard; and a nephew.
