Florence Gallaher Lee

A graveside memorial service for Florence Gallaher Lee will be held at Huse Memorial Park in Fayetteville at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 200, followed by a gathering at the White Horse Inn.

Florence died in Sarasota, Fla., on Aug. 28, 2006. Born Florence Walton Gallaher in Charleston, W.Va., on Nov. 4, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Miller Gallaher of Charleston and Martha Lewis Bassel of Clarksburg, W.Va. Florence married John Edward Lee of Fayetteville in 1950.

John preceded her in death in Sarasota, Fla., on July 11, 1995, and her daughter, Susan Miller Lee, preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 2001.

Florence is survived by three daughters, Ann Bassel of Makawao, Hawaii, Walton Lee Shaw of Sarasota, Fla., and Martha Lewis Lee of San Anselmo, Calif.; and eight grandchildren, William Ludwell Burrows, Lydia Ann Burrows, Lee Edward Shaw, Helen Ann Shaw, John Afton Hess, Karen Lee-Daniels, Margaret Ann Steinmann, and Kathryn Carter Steinmann.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Florence Lee may be made to the Fayette County Public Library, 531 Summit St., Oak Hill, WV 25901 or to the Pelican Man Bird Sanctuary, 1708 Ken Thompson Parkway, Sarasota, FL 34236.
