He was born October 4, 1958 in Ottumwa to Clifford and Louise Marie Jessop Cain.
Joe was very involved in his community, and had lived in Centerville since 2002. He was very close to his roommates, Tim Rick, Randy Pfannebecker, and Terri Bartmess.
Joe loved to work and have fun. He was proud of the work he did in janitorial and piece work for Wells Manufacturing over the past 27 years. Additionally, Joe was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2675 in Centerville. Joe bowled and was a league member at Adam's Bowling and was proud that he attended the state bowling tournament yearly. Joe loved to celebrate his birthday by going gambling every year. He was a collector of movies and Christmas items, which he proudly displayed in his home.
Joe was known to be a kind man. He went out of his way to help people less fortunate than himself. He was known to send flowers to people on their birthdays and other occasions. He was curious about others and took an active interest in their well-being. Joe will be missed by his Centerville Community Betterment, Inc. friends.
Surviving are his sisters, Eva Cain and Linda Cain, both of Ottumwa, and Cheryl Newman of Albia; many nieces and nephews; and special friend Angela Clark of Centerville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Randy Cain.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to Heartland Humane Society.
