Jose de la Luz Borrego, 84, died after a short illness Monday in McAllen General Hospital. He came to Texas when he was 17 years old from Mexico and had worked as a railroad employee and as a miner before becoming a restaurant employee until his retirement.
The Rosary was recited at 8 o'clock on Tuesday evening at the Ceballos Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass was on Wednesday morning at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Conlin officiating. Burial was in La Piedad Cemetery.
Survivors were two sons, Apancio Borrego of Abilene and Alex Borrego of Bakersfield, Calilfornia; three daughters, Mrs. Felicitas B. Gandara of San Diego, California, and Mrs. Maria B. Doyas and Miss Hipolita Rodriques of McAllen; a sister, Mrs. Maria B. Espino of Loving, New Mexico; and 25 grandchildren.
