Funeral for Claud C. Baynard, an engineer who supervised the construction of Grand Coulee Dam, will be Friday at 3 pm in Portland Memorial Funeral Home. He was 85. Mr. Baynard was born in Vernon, Tex., on April 7, 1887. He moved to Portland in 1914. He was one of the founders of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at Oregon State University, where he earned his engineering degree.
He was a life member of the Hawthorne Masonic Lodge III AF&AM. Surviving is a son, George C. of Portland, and two grandsons. Burial will be in Portland Memorial Cemetery.
