Graduated from the Vermont Academy of Medicine at Castleton in 1836; went to South Carolina on account of ill health in Oct 1839, and engaged in teaching; was at Gaillard's plantation on the great southern bend of the Santee, at Sumterville, Charleston and Aiken; and in Nov 1846, he went to Carrollton, GA to take charge of a school, where he died at the house of Dr W P Parker.
