Eleanor Marjorie Grings, 88, of Davenport, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2019, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, with her daughter and granddaughter by her side.

Her final wish in life was to gift her body to science. Per her wishes, no services will be held.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Vietnam Veterans of America, the American Alzheimer’s Association, or the Scott County Humane Society.

Eleanor was born in Davenport, on May 16, 1931, to Louis and Mary (Enderton) Drury. She graduated from St. Ambrose College, Division of Nursing in 1952.

She married Byerl “Guy” Leland Grings in Kahoka, MO, in 1957. He preceded her in death in April, 1978.

Eleanor was a doting and loving grandmother who put her family and grandchildren first. She was a true caregiver of all who were in need. She loved all animals but held a special place in her heart for dogs. She enjoyed sewing with Amber, puzzles with Tabitha, and was an avid collector of nutcrackers with Lauren.

Those surviving to cherish Eleanor’s memory include her daughter, Theresa (Alan, Jr.) Thede, Davenport; grandchildren, Tabitha (Brian) Kruger, Nebraska, Amber (Jacob) Cashen, Coal Valley, IL, Lauren (Peter Jr.) Miller, South Carolina; great grandchildren, Emery, Autumn, Brooklynn, Sydney, Hayden, and Peter III.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
