William Matterson "Matt" Shipman was the son of Isaac Henry Shipman and Ollie Florene Sechrist Shipman. He had four sisters and five brothers. He married Miss Christine Herrell and they had two daughters, Maxine & Flora Belle. Christine passed away when her second child, Flora Belle, was a baby.
Matt's second marriage was to Miss Syble Maxwell. They were parents of a son, and two daughters. He was the grandson of William Matthew Shipman and Lucinda Frances Brown Shipman and also a grandson of James Monroe Sechrist and Mary Ruth Ann Laws Sechrist.
