January 21, 1925 - April 18, 2007

Born in Fort Collins, Colorado to Jacob & Esther Bauer, Gil passed away peacefully at his home in Post Falls, Idaho.

His family moved to the Spokane Valley in 1932. Gil grew up in Millwood and was a 1943 graduate from West Valley High School. Following high school, he entered the army and served in the Rhineland and Ardennes Campaigns in Europe. He was decorated with a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his military service.

Gil married Ruth Drewes on June 18, 1949 and graduated from Washington State College in 1950 with a degree in Architectural Engineering. He lived and worked in Spokane for 37 years and operated his own general contracting firm. In addition to construction, Gil loved fishing, camping, horses and time at the family's cabin on Lake Coeur d'Alene. Following retirement, he moved to north Idaho and kept active in entrepreneurial business ventures. Gil will be remembered for his kind heart, creative ideas and an enthusiastic attitude toward life.

He is survived by his wife Ruth; his two sisters, Doris Lee of Normandy Park, WA and Jean Chaffee of Camano Island, WA; two sons, John of Rockford, WA and Dan of Spokane; three grandchildren, seven nieces and nephews and many good friends.

Graveside services will be held at 3 P.M. April 25 at the Pines Cemetery 1402 S. Pines Road in Spokane Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Idaho Hospice, 9493 North Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835
