John M. Stewart died August 31, 1869 of dytheria. He was born in Pollackshaw Lanark Scottland, 6 Aug. 1843. He was baptized when eight years of age. He emigrated to this country in 1854, went back to the middle states and helped the emigrating companies for 2 years in succession. John was ordained a seventy in 1865. He was chief teacher in the Plain City's Sunday School for 2 years preceding his death as a good and faithful member of the LDS church. He was beloved by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and two small children to mourn his loss.
