Mildred Marie Gates age 70 of Clovis, NM died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Beehive Assisted Living in Clovis. She was born July 29, 1936, to Bob W. and Musette Kennedy Terry in Portales, NM. Mildred married Monroe Gates June 20, 1958, in Arlington, VA. She was a teacher for 29 years in Texas and New Mexico; Claude, TX for two years, Canyon, TX for three years, Silverton, TX for two years, Bovina, TX for two years, Gattis Junior High for ten years, Yucca Junior High for ten years, and Clovis Community College. The love of her life was teaching and her favorite subject was New Mexico's History. She was an active member at 16th and Pile Church of Christ.
Mildred is survived by her husband, Monroe Gates of the home; son, Jim Gates of Clovis, NM; two sisters, Betty (Gordon) Musick of Lubbock, TX, and Sharon (Gary) Grider of Clovis, NM; brother, H.R. (Nona Faye) Terry of Portales, NM; sister-in-law, Judy Terry of Portales, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bob Gates; and brother, Keith Terry.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 2, 2007, at 16th and Pile Church of Christ with Jim Gammon officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Browning Cemetery in McAlister, NM. Pallbearers will be Stan Musick, Kerry Musick, Harold Terry, Mike Terry, Danny Terry, Karl Terry, Jeff Terry, Steve Robertson, and Mark Robertson.
