Chester Earl Hammons was born on December 10, 1936, in Knox County, Kentucky, the son of the late Jim and Eva Williamson Hammons. He was united in marriage to Natalyn Brown Hammons, who survives of London. He is also survived by four daughters, Carolyn Sue Nicholson of Raleigh, North Carolina, Ginger Fields and husband, Mike, Mary Linda Petrey and Sondra Kay Hammons, all of London, one brother, Ray Hammons of London, seven grandchildren, Brandon, AJ and Jonny Nicholson, Michael Blake Fields, Josh Thomas, Keesha Radford and WB DeSurne, three great-grandchildren, Avah Bleau Martin, Levi Thomas and Greyson Radford, plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn his passing. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by six siblings, Mary Greer, Virgil Hammons, Evelyn Stanbury, Glen Hammons, Harold Hammons and Jerry Hammons.

Chester was a truck driver and owned Hammons Produce. He served in the National Guard. Chester was a storyteller and always made everyone laugh by being a comedian. He was an avid antique lover and collector and huge Kentucky Wildcat fan. Chester loved his family and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in London, Kentucky.

Chester Hammons departed this life at Laurel Heights Home for the Elderly on Friday, August 2, 2019, being 82 years, 7 months and 22 days of age.

Funeral services for Chester Earl Hammons will be conducted at 3 PM Sunday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Andrew Dyer and Mike Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the A.R.
