Betty R. Higar, 95, of Normal, formerly of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Pekin Manor in Pekin. She was born November 17, 1923 in Decatur to Henry August and Blanche Meriweather. She married Jack Butts on August 8, 1942, in Decatur, and he passed away December 28, 1986.
Surviving are two sons, Kim (Jane) Butts of Naples, FL and Brock (Jane) Butts of Tremont; two daughters, Sheryl Nord and Candice (Donald) Birle, both of Yalaha, FL; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Cynthia Nord and one sister, Jackie Baum.
A private graveside service and burial will be at a later date in Boiling Springs Cemetery in Decatur.
