He was born in Snowville, Va. on March 26, 1931 and was the son of the late Ray Roberts Covey, Sr. and Martha Dott Hambrick Covey.
He was also preceded in death by his wife Dorothy D. Covey; by a brother Edwin Ellis Covey; and by a sister Grace Covey Robertson.
Mr. Covey was a farmer and was in the Snowville Masonic Lodge and the Snowville Ruritan Club. Surviving are his nephew and wife, Wynfield and Dreama Dawn Covey; sister, Martha Covey VanMeter; brother, Joseph Hambrick Covey; great-niece, Cherish Renee Covey; great-nephew, Wynfield S. Covey Jr.; many friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Bonds officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be Saturday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
