Obituary for Raymond Sylvester Wolf
Another soldier has been called home. Raymond S. Wolf, 92, passed away in hospice care after spending the past several months in the Hospital and Rehab Center. Ray was born on March 03, 1925, in Glidden, Wisconsin, to Karl Fredrick (Charles) and Emily Wolf (nee Aschenbrenner). He graduated from Glidden High School in 1943 and entered active duty to serve and protect our country. He proudly served with the US Army, Company F, 110th Infantry Division, 28 APO, from June 1943 to May 1945, and served for 4 Months and 11 days in the European theater. The last 5 months of his service were spent in the Mayo Hospital of Galesburg. Ray proudly flew on the WW2 Honor Flight in 2016. He was a devoted Catholic and member of St. William Catholic Church in Waukesha, WI. On Sept. 21, 1946, he married the love of his life, Doris DeHart, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ray worked as a pipefitter for Babcock and Wilcox (Milwaukee) and retired after 32 years of service. After retirement, he drove part-time for Budget Rental Cars for several years. Ray loved to go hunting and fishing. He also loved the Green Bay Packers, the Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks. Most of all, he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Doris Wolf of Muskego; daughter Linda (Harland) Rausch of Big Bend; daughter-in-law Rebecca Wolf of North Prairie, WI. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Richard (Paula) Rausch of Waterford, Brian Rausch of Big Bend, Jaysen (Ryoko) Wolf of Waukesha, Danyell (Steve) Alger, of Junction City, and Kenny (Theresa) Relish of Milwaukee, WI. He was also blessed with 13 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and 2 additions to the family due in the fall. He is also survived by Sister Gerry Kapala of Rockford, IL, and was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Emily Wolf; sisters Marie Wolf and Catherine Wolf; brothers Henry Wolf, Carl Wolf, Bill Wolf, John Wolf, Louie Wolf and Donald Wolf; sons David Raymond Wolf and James S. Wolf; grandson Randy Rausch and great-grandchildren Robbie and Cassendra Rausch.
The visitation for Ray will be held on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 10:30 am until the time of service at 12:30 p.m. at St. William Catholic Church in Waukesha, WI, 53188. Father Jose Nieto will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, and St. William Catholic Church, 440 Moreland Blvd, Waukesha, WI 53188.
The family would like to thank the Rehab Staff at Linden Grove, in Mukwonago, WI, especially Anthony Z. Also, special thanks to Allay Hospice Care team and to Sue Kwasigroch and BreAnn Speltter for the care given to Ray as he prepared for his journey home to our Lord, as well as Cesarz Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home for their compassion.
