Services for Elden Elbert Willey, 69, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Todd officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Willey died Monday, Jan. 1, 1996, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 3, 1926, in Marion, the son of Frank Elbert and Eldena Christina Williamson Willey.

He moved to Lawrence at age 9 and graduated from Liberty Memorial High School. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps during the occupation of Germany.

He returned to Lawrence and attended Kansas University and then the Spartan Aeronautical School in Tulsa, Okla. He lived in Scotts Bluff, Neb., and then Topeka before returning again to Lawrence.

Mr. Willey worked for 12 years at the Evans Auto Supply and 16 years at the Deems Farm Equipment. He then worked for a short time at the Lawrence Kaw River Water Treatment Plant as an operator. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was active in the Boy Scouts in Lawrence and canoeing clubs in Lawrence and the Kansas City area.

He married Marion L. Wiley on Sept. 15, 1946, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Gale, Lawrence, and Patrick, Chico, Calif.; his father, Frank Willey, Topeka; and a sister, Margaret Wigington, Columbus, Ohio.
