named President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board in the late 70s. He was professionally active on a state level having served several terms as a director with the North Carolina Savings and Loan Association. After a banking career that spanned over 45 years, "Buck" retired in 2002 from Home Savings Bank. Upon the relocation of the Locust branch of Home Savings Bank in 2007, the City of Locust named the street running alongside the new location "Buck Hill Drive" in his honor. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Albemarle since 1955, having served several terms as a Deacon and a former Sunday school leader for high school students. In addition, he served on several search committees to secure ministers and music directors and has been a member of the Saints Sunday School Class for many years. "Buck" was an exemplary volunteer and his love for his community was evident by the extensive list of service he gave to so many organizations over the years. He held the distinguished honor of "Eagle Scout" through the Boy Scouts of America. He was a Past Member of the Board of Directors of GHA Autism Supports, Stanly County Family YMCA, Friends of the Stanly County Senior Services, the Stanly County Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce, serving as Chamber Chairman in 1965. He also was a past member of the United Way of Stanly County Allocations Committee, the Morrow Mountain State Park Advisory Committee and the Stanly County Saddle Club, having organized numerous horse shows. "Buck" served several terms on the Pfeiffer College Board of Trustees, and was given the honor of Trustee Emeritus. In addition, he was active in the Albemarle Jaycees Club and was named "Jaycee of the Year" in the late 1950s. Lion "Buck" has been a long-term member of the Albemarle Lions Club for nearly 50 years and has been an active flag display volunteer putting American flags out on several holidays throughout the year on a route in Albemarle for over 40 years. He was also a long-term member of the Albemarle Investment Club, the oldest investment partnership in North Carolina, and he loved hosting the monthly meetings for all of the members at his barn. One of "Buck's" most involved acts of volunteer service was with the local medical community. He served a term as Chairman and was a member of the Board of Directors of Stanly Memorial Hospital for a total of 12 years. In addition, he was the first Chairman and was a driving force in the formation of the Stanly Memorial Hospital Foundation in the early 90s. "Buck" was presented the Governor's Award for Volunteer Service by Governor James Hunt in the late 90s and was named "Citizen of the Year" by the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce in 1998. In January of 2016, he was awarded the prestigious "Order of the Long Leaf Pine" by Governor Pat McCrory at an Albemarle City Council meeting. After his retirement from Home Savings Bank, he remained very active in the community, but enjoyed life at its fullest. He was an avid gardener and loved horseback riding, fishing and found much joy in spending time at his barn just outside Albemarle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Hazeline "Pete" Huneycutt. Survivors include his wife of 63 years Peggy Burris Hill and children Kenneth Hill (Kelly) of Albemarle and Timothy Hill of Albemarle; four grandchildren, Lauren Hill Bowers (Chase), Brett J.
