Beulah B. ‘Dora’ Benham, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA at the age of 81 years. She was born November 25, 1923 in *Grassmere, WA, one of ten children of Paul and Hilda Goddard Vanderhoof.

Dora grew up in the Concrete area attending school and was married to Jesse Poe in 1940 in Hamilton and he preceded her in death in 1962. She later married Harry Benham in 1964 in Coeur D’ Alene, ID and he preceded her in death in 1986.

Dora resided in Seattle for many years and worked as a Records Manager for the Washington State Highway Department for 20 years, retiring in 1985. In 1994, she moved back to the Skagit Valley, making her home in Burlington. She enjoyed reading, gardening, caring for her pets, and she was a longtime member of the Eagles Aerie #1444 Auxiliary in Concrete.

Dora is survived by her four children: Luvena Groves and Jeanne Russell both of Burlington, LaLona McCready and her husband David of Lebanon, OR, and Lonnie Benham and his wife Jackie of Springfield, OR. Eleven grandchildren Dale Klinger, Dean Erin Klinger, Lori Russell, Tamy Canniff, Sandy Vargas, Adam Susan Groves, Tiffany Williams, Garrow Benham, Andrew, Aaron, Arica McCready, and eight great grandchildren. One sister Mary Glen of Seattle and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Jesse and Harry, seven brothers Paul, Ernie, Earl, Elton, John, Howard, Harold, and one sister Myrtle.

At Dora’s request there will be no services. Inurnment will be at the Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete. Memorials are suggested to Humane Society of Skagit Valley 18911 Kelleher Rd Burlington, WA 98233. Arrangements under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
NOTE: Grassmere is less than 2 miles west of Concrete.
