Virgie Geralene (Wells) Humphrey May 11, 1925 ~ July 25, 2019
Virgie Geralene Humphrey, 94, of Glenwood, AR, formerly of Hollis, AR, died Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Glenwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Glenwood. The daughter of Jap and Vay “Tudie” (Hawks) Wells, she was born May 11, 1925, in Hollis. She married A.W. “Bud” Humphrey on November 7, 1943, at Hollis.

Geralene was a graduate of Arkansas State Teachers College with a teaching degree and taught elementary education for many years in Perry County, including the one-room school house at Hollis. She was a lifetime member of the Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting and embroidery, and especially listening to her late son, Tony, play the piano.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Alpha "Bud" William Humphrey; her parents; and her son, Tony Humphrey.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Humphrey of Hot Springs; her granddaughter, Tonya Jean Johnson (James) of Showano, Wisconsin; and one great grandson, Jamison Johnson of Showano.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, July 27, 2019, at Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church in Hollis. Pastor Jimmy Scott and Larry Humphrey will officiate.

Honorary pallbearers include; Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church; Hammond Baptist Church; Glenwood Health; Jimmy & Vera Scott; Phyllis Crain; the Community of Hollis; Linda Robertson, Cody Robertson and Amber Womack.

Burial will be at Nooner Cemetery in Hollis by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:00 am, on Saturday, at the church.
