Obituary
Oliver W. Voorhis, 91 years old, of Lawrence, Ind., who died at his home, Tuesday was buried yesterday at the Oaklandon (Ind.) cemetery. Mr. voorhis was one of the founders of the Lawrence township fair and was for many years an active member of the Masonic lodge. He was born in Warren County, Ohio, in 1832, and attended Hill college at College Hill, Ohio from which he was graduated in 1851. After his marriage in 1853 to Sarah Ann Negley, he moved to lawrence, where he was engaged in the grocery business. He was Marion county surveyor for two terms.
Following the death of his first wife, he married Harriet Wilson in 1882. Surviving Mr. Voorhis are a daughter, Rebekah Voorhis; a son, Oliver W. Voorhis, Jr., both of Lawrence, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. L. H. Ratliff of Indianapolis.
